Figure out how you’re planning on getting to the airport. It sounds simple enough, but it all starts here! Depending on the length of the trip I alternate between parking in my favorite airport garage and taking a hired car. For long trips the car can often be the best price and eliminates waiting for the parking shuttle (the wait for the shuttle is always in direct proportion to your jetlag).
If I drive, I highly recommend leaving a bottle of water in your car. Flying is dehydrating and we never drink enough water while in the air so you’ll appreciate having some waiting for you!
And of course, get there early! I’d rather spend an extra 30 minutes waiting at the airport than have missed my plane by 30 seconds. Nothing adds stress to a trip than checking your watch every second during check-in and security. Give yourself breathing room.
